Gmail: Privacy Issues
I guess I'm one of the "chosen ones" to have a gmail account. To tell you my honest to goodness opinion.
I love it!
I don't care what people are saying about privacy issues. I don't care that Google uses a automated bot to scan my email for keywords so text ads can show up on the right hand frame. First of all I hardly notice it! This is NOTHING compared to what Hotmail and Yahoo Mail does. Quarter screen, richly animated, bandwidth hogging ads that annoys you more than the buzzing of a fly in the middle of the night.
Gmail is a free service. It has to pay the bills somehow, and if its by those little hardly noticable ads, so be it. Give me the gmail ads anyday. In today's high tech world, we learn to unconciously filter out unwanted "noise" in this case the small text based ads. Privacy? I don't even feel violated. If you really think that some poor Google employee is going through your 1000 MB account looking for relevant keywords, you need to have your head examined.

These privacy claims are stupid, the targeted ads scanner does the same thing as yahoo's search function, just go to your yahoo email account, search for something...how does it know what to display if some kind of script doesn't read your mail and look for the words you searched for?
